Award Categories 

The ATE program funds projects that vary widely in terms of size and focus. To reflect this diversity, awards will be made in three categories:

Category Eligibility*
Outstanding Evaluation of a Small, New-to-ATE Project
  • Evaluations nominated for this award must be for a project funded under the ATE program track “Small Grants Institutions New to the ATE Program.”
  • The evaluation must reflect at least 2 full years of the project’s operations.
  • The evaluated project must not be more than two years past its grant expiration date.
Outstanding Evaluation of an ATE Center
  • Evaluations nominated for this award must be for an ATE center funded under the “ATE Centers” ATE program track.
  • The evaluation must reflect at least 3 full years of the center’s operations.
  • The evaluated center must not be more than two years past its grant expiration date.
Outstanding Evaluation of an ATE Project
  • Evaluations nominated for this award must be for an ATE project funded under the “ATE Projects” ATE program track.
  • The evaluation must reflect at least 2 full years of the project’s operations.
  • The evaluated project must not be more than two years past its grant expiration date.

*All ATE projects are eligible for this award, including those with personnel or evaluators currently or previously affiliated with EvaluATE. Award winners will be selected by judges external to EvaluATE.

Review Criteria

Awards for outstanding evaluations of ATE projects and centers will be based on the evaluation’s (1) quality and (2) usefulness to stakeholders.

Judging

Nominated evaluations will be reviewed by a panel of judges external to EvaluATE with expertise in evaluation.

Nominations Process

Nominations for the 2021 Outstanding Evaluation Award must be received no later than 5 p.m. Eastern September 1, 2021.

The nominations require (1) a short statement of why the nominated evaluation should be recognized as an outstanding example of an ATE evaluation, (2) an electronic copy of an evaluation report, and (3) one to three testimonials from project staff or other stakeholders about the value and utility of the evaluation. Self-nominations are encouraged.

Awards will be announced during the ATE Principal Investigators Conference.
